Indie rock soloist Snail Mail, or Lindsey Jordan (she/her), released her third album after five years on March 27 2026. With some hits and some misses, Ricochet sadly did not live up to Lush and Valentine for me. This doesn't mean that Jordan isn't still one of the best indie rock artist out there. Understandably so, this album sounds more mellow and less punchy than her previous releases, which may have been affected by her vocal polyps surgery. Or, that she's now 26 and growing out of the youthful angst and embracing a more settled and mature adult self! That said, there's still a distinctive "oomph" to her sound that makes her, HER. The orchestral elements throughout the album was a tasteful surprise, honouring the tonal shift in her musical identity. Some standouts from Ricochet were "Light On Our Feet", "Cruise", and "Reverie".
